Sustainable Residence

Sustainability was key to the owner of this unique residence who visualized it as a miniature “Green Demonstration” project. The home is comprised of three sections: an exposed steel center structure with wood frame wings on either side. Surprisingly, the site was once occupied by an auto repair shop.

  • The design eliminated all redundant structural members to minimize materials usage. Framing for the two wings was minimized and used a combination of engineered lumber and FSC Certified wood, while unusually detailed structural drawings helped reduce timber waste.
