Hale Mau’u
Resting on a bed of black lava rock with tufts of grass and Kiawe trees scattered throughout, Hale Mau’u embraces the quiet beauty of the coastal and volcanic landscape. The structural design of the surrounding buildings forms the courtyard which maximizes the circulation between spaces along a raised boardwalk and creates a linear axis from the mountains to the ocean. The composition of the roof and the long extended eaves balance shade with light and large barn doors blend indoor and outdoor living spaces.
