UC Santa Cruz Dining and Residential Facilities
For the three-story, 48,000 square-foot dining hall building, GFDS developed a foundation able to span potential subsurface cavities in the site’s bedrock. Because of varying soil conditions at the site chosen for six new multi-story residence halls, GFDS minimized building weight by designing a lightweight steel frame system combined with wood floor framing and cold-formed steel curtain walls.
